Our founder Rachel Mortimer (Andersen) gave an inspiring TEDX talk about the power of reshaping the way we care.
The insights gained from training care staff in Ignite have expanded Engage & Create’s educational solutions to help a variety of organisations and individuals understand the experience of living with dementia. Rachel showed us how thoughtful and person-centred approaches can have a huge impact on communication with people that many have given up on. Rachel believes passionately in the rights of people living with dementia to enjoy human contact and conversation – even when verbal communication has become a challenge. Inspired by the knowledge that human interaction in a care home can be limited to just two minutes over six hours, she devised ‘Ignite’, using art and the exploration of a painting to trigger reactions and memories and so spark conversations. |
